WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading, also referred to as semi-permanent makeup is the finest form of eyebrow tattooing, using a process of implanting colour pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair like strokes . These thin lines flow in the same direction as your own eyebrow hairs, and create the most natural results.

YOU MAY NOT GET THIS PROCEDURE IF YOU?

-are under the age of 18

-have a history of keloid scaring

- are pregnant or nursing

-IF you have allergy to nickel or iron oxide please notify Jennifer.  She has special pigments for these cases

-have been on accutane with the last year

-have rosacea or redness of your skin and/or have thin sensitive skin, you will not be a good candidate for the microblading  as your skin will not be able to hold much colour.

-if you are currently taking Retinol - you must be off it 7 days prior to your appointment and avoid using it for 30 days after your procedure.

-have HIV or Herpatitus or any other viral infections and/or disease

- Undergoing Chemotherapy - please consult your doctor

Beyond this, any and all allergies and serious medical conditions must be discussed prior to your treatment with a possible need for a consultation with you family doctor.

AM I GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICROBALDING?

Microblading work best on these skin types:

- Dry skin with tiny pores, normal to combination skin types and normal to a mild oily skin.

If  you have Thick oily skin with large pores - your constant production of oil can cause the hair strokes to heal with a thicker diffused and softer look.  I can work on this skin type however, you must be aware the end results will look much more powdered than crisp hair like strokes.

If you want full, beautiful brows all day, every day and don't want to spend the time applying them on every morning than this is really a great thing for you.

If you have suffered from scarring, Trichotillomania, Alopecia and or a Cancer survivor, or other diseases and disorders that have led to natural hair loss. Let Jennifer do all the work for you and bring those brow back to life!

ARE THERE SOME CLIENTS WHO CANNOT RETAIN THE PIGMENT?

Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, some have super oily thick skin, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It's rare, but it's important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, I will recommend a third appointment to further touch up if the client is retaining little pigment after the second touch up, however anything beyond that would likely be too much for the skin and the client would likely not be a candidate for further Microblading. I cannot guarantee if this will be the case for any client as it’s not possible to predict.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

This will vary by client. If aftercare instructions are followed diligently, your new brows will last approximately 12-18 months. For some people, their brows will last even longer. Certain factors such as sun exposure, getting chemical peels, oily skin type, etc. will affect whether your brows will last on the higher or lower end of the expected 12-18 months. There is no way for us to predict how long your brows will last or how they will heal with this procedure, since so much of it depends on skin type and lifestyle. Also, some clients really prefer a fresh, bright look. Those clients opt to come in for colour boost every 12 months instead of waiting for their brows to completely fade.

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

Pain tolerance varies by client. Most clients describe the pain level as minimal and find tweezing and threading more uncomfortable.  Jennifer uses the best topical lidocaine cream available (Zensa numbing cream  - 5% lidocaine) to minimize discomfort. She takes her time getting you nice and numb and numbs throughout the procedure. That being said, this is a still a tattoo. You will feel some discomfort. Based on my personal experience, I would describe the feeling a slight burning, scratching like sensation. Very tolerable and worth it!

Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

IS THE STUDIO AND EQUIPMENT SAFE?

Absolutely! Jennifer has an immaculate and sterile studio space. Jennifer use's single use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that each set-up for each new client is discarded safely afterwards. Her studio is thoroughly disinfected before opening and after each procedure throughout the day.

The process takes approximately two and a half hours from the moment you walk in the door to completion of your beautiful new brows. The first hour or so is spent designing your new brows and numbing the area. The actual procedure itself takes approximately 40 to 60 minutes.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

 What is the healing process?

Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so,depending on the client. Your new brows will appear DARKER, WIDER, AND SHARPER than the way they will heal. This is especially true for days 2-5. This is harder for some clients than others.Clients who rarely wear makeup may find that they don't like how their brows look on these days because they are too intense. That's normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin and has not yet settled into your skin. As your skin heals over the tattoo, your brows will lighten and soften. This process takes about 10 to 14 days on average. Your brows will be dry and may scab a bit –it’s important that you’re prepared to go through this process BEFORE booking! It’s important to follow all after care instructions and to attend the required follow up appointment to make the finishing touches to your new brows! Your healing is only 50% in my control. Once you leave it's up to you to be diligent about following the instructions you're been given to get the best result! And no matter how great they look, it's important to come for your touch up appointment to get the final result.
