WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading , also referred to as semi-permanent makeup or HDI Embroidery Brow, is the process of implanting colour pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup, or to enhance the natural features of the face.
CAN I GET MICROBLADING?
You may not have this procedure done if you are under the age of 18, pregnant, nursing, have an allergy to nickel, history of keloid scaring and/or taking blood thinners.
If you have rosacea or redness of your skin and/or have thin sensitive skin, you will not be a good candidate for the microblading procedure as your skin will not be able to hold much colour.
Beyond this, any and all allergies and serious medical conditions must be discussed prior to our treatment with a possible need for a consultation with you family doctor.
AM I GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICROBALDING?
The simple answer is, anyone that wants to have full, beautiful brows all day, every day! That would include busy parents or business people who don’t have much time to apply brow make up, active people who don’t want to worry about sweating off makeup while working out or swimming, or any person who struggles with getting that perfect shape that the celebrities and YouTube makeup artists always seem to have. Other clients include those suffering from scarring, Trichotillomania, Alopecia and Cancer, or other diseases and disorders that have led to natural hair loss. Let Jennifer do all the work for you!
ARE THERE SOME CLIENTS WHO CANNOT RETAIN THE PIGMENT?
Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, some have super oily skin, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It's rare, but it's important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, I will recommend a third appointment to further touch the brows up if the client is retaining little pigment after the first touch up, however anything beyond that would likely be too much for the skin and the client would likely not be a candidate for further Microblading. I cannot guarantee if this will be the case for any client as it’s not possible to predict.
HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?
This will vary by client. If after care instructions are followed diligently, your new brows will last approximately 12-18 months. For some people, their brows will last even longer. Certain factors such as sun exposure, getting chemical peels, oily skin type, etc. will affect whether your brows will last on the higher or lower end of the expected 12-18 months. There is no way for us to predict how long your brows will last or how they will heal with this procedure, since so much of it depends on skin type and lifestyle. Also, some clients really prefer a fresh, bright look. Those clients opt to come in for Color Boosts every 12 months instead of waiting for their brows to completely fade.
DOES MICROBLADING HURT?
Every client is different and pain tolerance varies by client. Most clients describe the pain level as minimal and find tweezing and threading more uncomfortable. Jennifer uses the best topical lidocaine cream available (Zensa numbing cream - 5% lidocaine) to minimize discomfort. She takes her time getting you nice and numb. That being said, this is a still a tattoo. You will feel some discomfort. Based on my personal experience, I would describe the feeling a slight burning, scratching like sensation. Very tolerable and worth it!
Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.
IS THE STUDIO AND EQUIPMENT SAFE?
Absolutely! Jennifer has an immaculate and sterile studio space. Jennifer use's single use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that each set-up for each new client is discarded safely afterwards. Here studio is thoroughly disinfected before opening and after each procedure throughout the day.
HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
Appointments can only be made via email. Please note that a deposit is required to schedule and secure your appointment and is deducted from the total price. This deposit is to ensure that you are serious about your appointment and is non-refundable. If you cancel or miss your appointment, you will simply forfeit your deposit.
WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
Jennifer accepts CREDIT CARD, CASH OR E-TRANSFER for payment.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The process takes approximately two and a half to three hours from the moment you walk in the door to completion of your beautiful new brows. The first hour or so is spent designing your new brows and numbing the area. There is no downtime! Occasionally, some clients will have some slight redness and swelling around the area which is very normal and will subside within a couple hours. Most clients go on about their normal day when they leave their appointment.
What is the healing process?
Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so,depending on the client. Your new brows will appear DARKER, WIDER, AND SHARPER than the way they will heal. This is especially true for days 2-5. This is harder for some clients than others.Clients who rarely wear makeup may find that they don't like how their brows look on these days because they are too intense. That's normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin and has not yet settled into your skin. As your skin heals over the tattoo, your brows will lighten and soften. This process takes about 10 to 14 days or so on average. Your brows will be dry and may scab a bit –it’s important that you’re prepared to go through this process BEFORE booking! It’s important to follow all after care instructions and to attend the required follow up appointment to make the finishing touches to your new brows!Your healing is only about 50% in my control. Once you leave it's up to you to be diligent about following the instructions you're given to get the best result! And no matter how great they look, it's important to come for your touch up appointment to get the final result.
